“This is my Son whom I love. With him I am well pleased. Listen to him” Matthew 17.5.
We, like Peter could be drawn to the excitement of the bright lights
And rush to action for the Lord.
The three booths tell us it is the Feast of Tabernacles;
temporary shelters, put up to remind the Israelites
of their sojourn in the desert.
Like Peter, we may be eager to prove
how observant we are in our religious practice.
But God enters the arena
shielding the disciples by hiding in the cloud.
God pierces their conversation
affirming that love of the Son precedes action
and that listening to the Word will transfigure us.
