Celebrating Mass Together and Online

  Fr Jim

Our Bishops have said that currently there is no ‘obligation’ to actually ‘attend’ Mass in a church.

We are however, able to join together to celebrate via our streamed Mass daily at 10am on Church Services TV

Please Note
We are maintaining our current safety arrangements in our churches in order to continue to provide the safest environment for our Parishioners. We will consider the most appropriate way forward once we have fully reviewed any guidance from the Government and the Bishop. Please check the weekly Parish Newsletter for the latest information.

For Midweek and Saturday Morning Masses from October 1st booking is no longer required.
You must still book if you wish to attend Saturday Vigil or Sunday Masses

How to Register for Mass at Our Churches:

If you would like to attend one of our Saturday Vigil or Sunday Masses, you must book a place. There are two ways to register:

1. Choose the day you would like to attend and then Click the relevant Church in the current newsletter and complete the online registration or use the link Here to the list of services.

2. If you don't have internet access there is a dedicated mobile phone where reservations can be made: 07562 653778 (please do not use the parish office telephone number).

Please note that registration for each Mass will open at midnight one week before the Mass and will close at midnight two days before the date of the Mass. This allows us to produce a register for use by the stewards to record all those attending.

Note: Please do not arrive for Saturday Vigil or Sunday Mass unless you have received confirmation of a place.

If you attend church you MUST wear a face covering. Seating arrangements are clearly marked; however, accommodation is limited therefore once the maximum number has been reached then no one else will be able to enter.

Registration Forms for Mass
The first part is the information required for Test and Trace and includes the name and email of the person making the booking. This information is only about the person making the booking not the names of those wanting to attend the Mass. The second part of the form collects the names (up to six people) of all those wanting to attend the Mass and may or may not include the name of the person making the booking. Details are securely kept for three weeks, then destroyed. In addition to the Test and Trace system used in church, if you have downloaded the NHS COVID-19 app onto your phone, when you visit church you will be also be able to check in by scanning a QR code at the church entrance. This will help the NHS to notify you if you have come into contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus at that building. This is something that Places of Worship, businesses and organisations that are open to the public do to help trace and stop the spread of coronavirus.

Please do not come to church if you are displaying any symptoms of the virus

When you go onto the Church Services TV page for our Parish you will see that there are two labels which refer to the two different cameras used for streaming. These cameras are labelled Camera one and Camera two.

If you click on a camera and it does not give you the live-stream, please click on the other camera. Note that live streaming may not start until shortly before the publicized Mass time.
The 10am Mass is available to view on a PC, laptop, iPad, iPhone, Android Tablet or Mobile. Please take this opportunity to experience one or more of the live-streamed Masses from your local Church.

CHURCH SERVICES - STREAMING MASS NOT AVAILABLE? - Sometimes we experience technical issues and the streaming of Mass from St John XXIII or St Joseph’s fails. If this happens then, as we are using Church Services TV to stream, it is easy to find an alternative Mass. You can look at “What’s On Now” or the schedule and select a Mass or search for a church by country, or region with in the country – there are two other churches listed in Tyne and Wear: St Charles, Gosforth and Sacred Heart, North Gosforth.

If we are not there don’t despair find another Mass “On Air”.

Mass Intentions can be arranged with the Parish Office  Email:  sj23office01@gmail.com or Tel:  0191 4163583.

Mass offering envelopes are available from the church porch. Completed envelopes should be posted in the parish office letter box.
